Scale-up Coalition

Carbon Clean

Carbon Clean designs and builds industrial carbon capture systems for hard-to-abate sectors such as cement, steel, refining and energy from waste. Its CycloneCC technology is compact, modular and columnless, so it can be installed on sites with limited space and in a fraction of the time of conventional plants.

Hiiroc

HiiROC produces low-emission hydrogen from natural gas, biomethane or flare gas using its thermal plasma electrolysis process. The process uses around one fifth of the electricity needed for water electrolysis and produces solid carbon black rather than CO₂, which has uses in tyres, building materials and soil improvement.

Nuada

Nuada has developed a point-source carbon capture system that uses a metal-organic framework material to capture CO₂ from industrial flue gas. Its process uses up to 90% less energy than conventional capture, and it is working with cement, lime and energy-from-waste operators.

OxCCU

OXCCU is an Oxford University spin-out turning captured CO₂ and green hydrogen into sustainable aviation fuel, using an iron-based catalyst that does this in a single step. It has built a demonstration plant and plans to license its catalyst and reactor technology to fuel producers.

Power Roll

Power Roll makes lightweight, flexible solar film using a patented microgroove structure and low-cost roll-to-roll manufacturing. The film suits roofs and surfaces that cannot carry conventional panels, and the company runs a pilot factory and plans to license its process to manufacturers.
